We Pop Up at Design Junction
Phew, it’s over. A week of manning the Midcentury Modern Pop Up of 22 dealers and designers at designjunction in central London and here I am wiping a teaky-oiled hand over my fevered brow. Check out Saxon of Metro Retro above. You can spot our resident Peaky Blinder (in looks not criminal activity) just by checking out his hands which are as black as coal after years of working his fingers to the nub for shops, restaurants and film sets including ‘Skyfall’ and Scorsese’s ‘Hugo’. We love our M stand in Fired earth’s Madness of King George green with type by our brilliant graphic designers Hyperkit. We had three of these created to mark the different corners of our L shaped section because we are so very, very proud of all the brilliant designers and dealers in our space on the ground floor.
It was a treat to meet the very knowledgable producers at Carl Hansen, who we will speak more about next week after we interviewed Catrina at the British Branch of the company about their top rope winder Benny who works tirelessly every day to feed the world’s Wegner ‘wishbone’ chair obsession. Sign up below to make sure you don’t miss that post.
Thank you to James, Deborah, Natasha, Sam and all at designjunction who suffered many sleepless nights. To Sodastream for lifting our occasionally flagging spirits with free cocktails all day, especially the gin, raspberry and mint one. To 100% Norway who came all the way from 100% design to bring us a a very heavy and beautiful book about Norwegian design and for offering to write a piece for our new travel site Destination Modernism. And to all the mid-century smitten fans who come to our Dulwich and Lord’s shows who made it to Bloomsbury. We did spot a few of you squeezing up the stairs and walking around three floors of the old sorting office wowing at the international brand names we were honoured to present with.
If, on the other hand, you didn’t get a chance to see our Pop Up here is a taste of what it looked like and here is where you find our stand holders:
