What the dealers say about Midcentury Modern
The lovely Dan Fontanelli from Art and Design films recently approached us to do a mini-film backstage at our Midcentury and Midcentury Modern shows and we could not be more pleased with the results. It was lovely to hear what the dealers actually thought of the shows in our eleventh year of making iconic world design available to the public in the least pretentious way possible. We not only have a backbone of incredibly knowledgable people to thank for making Midcentury Modern and The Midcentury Show what they are, we get a huge crowd of furniture and design luminaries wending their way through the room sets dealers and designers create. Orla Keily, Margaret Howell, Tom Dixon, Matthew Hilton, Russell Pinch, Mary Portas, the Conran Design Team, Paul Smith buyers, South Bank and Tate shops are just a few of the too many to mention. However our biggest thanks goes out to the fan base of creative-minded collectors who have never quibbled about having to pay on the door and have thus supported us for years. We hope to bring out a film celebrating you mid-century diehards soon. As Midmod shoppers ourselves we do know how exciting it is to find an incredible piece you have had your heart set on for years or to be told the story of a designer you have never heard about. But before I start sounding like a Kate Winslet Oscar speech…here’s the film….and yes, it did make us cry…
